How long is a notarized document good for?
The notary on the document has no bearing as to the term (length) of the document. The wording within the document itself determines how long the document is “good for”, as you put it.
Some documents are time-based, having an expiration of the terms of whatever the document addresses, while others are indeterminate unless and until revoked by the person issuing the document (such as a Power of Attorney). This all depends on the nature and intent of whatever document you might be referring to. Having it notarized, regardless of the nature and intent of the document, only assures that those signing it are identified by a third party. The notary has no inclusion as to the terms or conditions of the document itself. |
